PIANJ names Wilkens Director of the Year

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J.—Thomas P. Wilkens, of Belford, N.J., was named the Professional Insurance Agents of New Jersey’s Director of the Year today at the association’s annual business conference at Harrah’s in Atlantic City. Wilkens is assistant vice president and branch manager for McGowan Risk Specialists in Eatontown, N.J.

The award recognizes the hard work and dedication of a member of the association’s board of directors who has contributed remarkable time and talent to help support the association and its many programs.

As an active member of PIANJ, Wilkens is Legislative/Regulatory vice chairperson of the Government Affairs Committee. He also is chairperson of PIANJ’s Political Action subcommittee and is a member of the Special Olympics Golf Committee. Wilkens in an active past president of the New Jersey Young Insurance Professionals, an organization dedicated to the professional and personal growth of newcomers to the insurance industry. It is an affiliate of PIANJ. In 2010, Wilkens received the NJYIP Director of the Year.

In his community, Wilkens is a member of the Middletown Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Drug and Alcohol Abuse. He also is on the Advisory Board for Michael’s Feat, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing comfort and support to families with seriously ill newborns.     

PIANJ is a trade association representing professional, independent insurance agencies, brokerages and their employees throughout the state.
