PIANY honors Wallin with Community Service award

GLENMONT, N.Y.—Peter Wallin received the Professional Insurance Agents of New York’s Community Service award at the annual board of directors dinner held Sept. 10, 2019. He is owner of Wallin Insurance Agency in Elmira, N.Y.

The PIANY Community Service Award recognizes individuals who demonstrate a significant commitment to the improvement of his or her community.

An active member of his community, Wallin works with the American Red Cross, volunteering with their Sound the Alarm campaign. Wallin and his staff have installed over 550 free smoke alarms in homes in his community. Recently, the were honored for saving a life when an alarm sounded during a basement fire. All residents escaped without harm. He also volunteers with the Meals on Wheels program of Chemung County.

Wallin was Arnot Health Foundation chairperson during their merger with

St. Joseph’s Hospital in Elmira. He also is a member of the Chemung Sunrise Rotary Club, and is on the board of directors for the Corning Credit Union.

An active member of PIANY, Wallin is a member of the associations Southern Tier Advisory Council. Active in the insurance industry, Wallin is a member of the Erie Insurance Marketing Task Force.

“Peter has demonstrated a deep level of dedication to his community. He has earned the respect and trust of his neighbors, colleagues and clients,” said Jamie Ferris, CIC, AAI, CPIA, president of PIANY. “PIANY is proud to present him with this award.”

PIANY is a trade association representing professional, independent insurance agencies, brokerages and their employees throughout the state.
