Regional p/c market issues to be addressed at Long Island RAP

Uticas Richard Zick to discuss economy, soft market from regional carrier perspective

GREAT NECK, N.Y.– Richard J. Zick, CPCU, AU, president and chief executive officer of Utica First Insurance Co., will present the keynote luncheon address at the Professional Insurance Agents of New York State Inc.s 26th annual Long Island Regional Awareness Program. The daylong event will be held Thursday, April 15, 2010, staring at 7 a.m., at Leonards of Great Neck, Great Neck, N.Y. More than 400 insurance professionals are expected to attend.

"We look forward to Mr. Zicks impressions of the current soft market from the standpoint of a regional carrier, often the best allies of professional, independent insurance agents," said Long Island RAP Committee Chair Michael P. Cracco. "His predictions for the rest of 2010 will provide valuable insight to RAP attendees."

Zick will present the perspective of a regional carrier in the current economy, focusing on issues of market-share politics and the continuing soft market. Following his address, Zick will be honored as the Long Island RAP Executive of the Year for his dedication to the independent agency system. The Louis A. Morelli Memorial Awards also will be presented to Garrett M. Duffy, president of Babylon Spirit Inc. and, posthumously, Stan Landberg, CPCU, marketing director of Kingstone Insurance Co.

Participants will have the opportunity to earn continuing education credits: Generational gaps: Are they working for or against your agency? will be presented by Donna Chiapperino from 8-9:50 a.m., and Current economic trends and their effect on the insurance industry, will be instructed by Sheldon Hansen, CIC, CRM, from 3-5:50 p.m. Both courses have been approved for New York CE credits.
