Personal lines sales opportunities to be addressed at Long Island RAP

     GREAT NECK, N.Y.-Daniel W. King, director of agency development for Travelers Insurance Co., will present the keynote luncheon address at the Professional Insurance Agents of New York State Inc.s 27th annual Long Island Regional Awareness Program. The daylong event will be held Thursday, April 28, 2011, staring at 7 a.m., at Leonards of Great Neck, Great Neck, N.Y. More than 400 insurance professionals are expected to attend.

     "We look forward to Mr. Kings expertise in the area of sales and personal lines coverage," said Long Island RAP Committee Chair Michael P. Cracco. "RAP attendees are certain to walk away with ideas to help build their business."

     King will present ideas and strategies on topics such as account rounding, successful sales strategies and moving from service to sales. Following Kings address, John Przedpelski, executive vice president and chief operating officer of LIG Insurance Co. will be honored as the Long Island RAP Executive of the Year for his dedication to the independent agency system. Jim Schaffner, senior business development manager for GMAC Insurance, will receive Industry Professional of the Year. The Louis A. Morelli Memorial Award also will be presented to Trish Dean, marketing director of Morstan General Agency. Cammy Belser, CPCU, vice president and regional manager for Merchants Insurance Group will receive the Distinguished Insurance Service Award, posthumously.

     Participants also will have the opportunity to earn continuing education credits by participating in the following quality courses: A risk management approach to identity theft and fraud will be presented by Ivan Cohen, CIC, AAI, CPIA, CRM, CRIS from 8-9:50 a.m., and Now whats my agency worth, will be instructed by Michael J. Fletcher, partner, Hales and Co., from 3-5:50 p.m. Both courses have been approved for New York CE credits.
