NFIP extended until Dec. 21

Recently, Congress passed a stop gap extension of the National Flood Insurance Program that President Donald J. Trump signed this morning. The new expiration deadline for the NFIP is Friday, Dec. 21, 2018.

The NFIP now is part of a broader appropriations bill, which Congress needed to extend funding for 20 percent of the federal government. Including the NFIP in the broader appropriations extensions is an attempt to link the program with the other agencies that receive annual funding based on the fiscal year.
