PIA's Two-Minute Survey

October 2017

Is your agency ready for New York state’s cybersecurity regulations?

New York state-licensed insurance agencies are scrambling to comply with the new New York State Department of Financial Services’ cybersecurity regulations (23 NYCRR 500). The new governance went into effect on March 1, 2017, and includes deadlines for agencies to implement procedures and solutions to achieve compliance with the new standards. The new regulations require companies to assess their specific cybersecurity risk profile and design a program that addresses their risks in a “robust fashion.” This survey is designed to assess the level of difficulty agencies are experiencing achieving compliance with the given timelines.
