John Fear, CISR, CPIA

Sponsored by: Excess Line Association of NY
National elections. Autonomous vehicles. Home security systems. Online shopping. Zoom© meetings and school classes. With so many of our everyday actions taking place in the digital world, cyber liability has taken on an even greater importance in the world of insurance. What is the risk to your personal and commercial insurance clients when it comes to having their digital identity and information compromised, and what can be done to protect them? This course will look at the increasing risk to individuals and businesses and what can be done to raise awareness to the need and develop a risk assessment plan to protect them.

Unprecedented Times: Other Than the Price, What Else Has Increased?
John Fear, CISR, CPIA
Submitted for NY, NJ & PA CE credits.
Sponsored by: TBA
Insurance professionals are operating in unprecedented times in which carriers are limiting new business production, nonrenewing client accounts, scheduling property inspections, increasing deductibles to offset the transference of risk—all while maintaining agency partner production and retention goals. Clients are experiencing this disruption firsthand, and they are looking to their insurance agent to answer the question: Why is this happening to me? Right now, independent agents can underscore the importance of insurance coverage during times of climate change, which is impacting the four corners of our nation. During this session, we will discuss the operational impact of client connections to not only retain current clients, but also to differentiate your agency regarding communicating the value of having the proper coverages.
Monday, June 9, 3–5:50 p.m.
Homeowners and the Hard Market: Building Your Home (Policy) on a Firm Foundation
Steve Lyon, CPCU, CIC, CRM, AAI, ARM, AIS, CRIS
Submitted for NY, NJ & PA CE credits.
Sponsored by: TBA
While hard markets are cyclical in the insurance industry, the current cycle is affected by weather and climate change losses. During this session, Lyon will examine various weather and climate change losses. He will stress the importance of insuring a house to value before a catastrophic loss; and the impact underground climate change has had on the insurance industry. Moving beyond the impacts of climate change, he also will discuss how various entities within the industry—carriers regarding new business and insurance departments—are responding to these issues. He will offer tips on risk mitigation (i.e., how to market your homeowners clients and their exposures to your insurance carriers).
